The Day in the Life of Home Automation |
|
|

Picture this! Your day starts at 5:00 a.m. You awake gently to the sound of your favorite music over the whole house audio system. As you walk out of the bedroom, without touching a switch, your way is lighted by subdued light so as not to hurt your eyes.
As you leave for work, you set the security system. (or you may activate it from your car or office via telephone.) You can leave with the peace of mind that your home and family are protected. Besides the smoke and carbon dioxide detectors, there are door and window triggers, and motion detectors. There is a sign in the yard and stickers in the windows to deter intruders. Also, you have the extra peace of mind knowing your home is being monitored.
While at work, you realized you reprogrammed the automation system not to turn on the air conditioner, on a day the temperature reaches 95 degrees. The weather man said "high of 71 today and not a cloud in sight". So, you call home and tell the user-friendly system to turn on the air.
Around one o'clock the sprinklers come on to water the lawn. At 1:15 p.m. an unexpected storm comes rollin in. The weather man predicted this day totally wrong. No need to worry about watering the lawn while it is raining. You had OMNI install a rain sensor. The sprinklers will automatically shut off if it begins to rain. |

Later that night as you arrive home, the driveway sensor turns on the porch light and sets off the chimes to let your family know someone has entered the property. Your children change the television channel to see who it is. You show up on tv thanks to the surveillance cameras.
After a deliciously prepared dinner on family night, you check your mail. The electric bill has arrived. You are pleased by how low the bill is. Thanks to the energy management automation system.
Now you must decide which room to watch a movie in. The home theater or the family tv room which has a 52" tv. But, the theater room has a 107" screen and a projector. You can lounge in the cinamatic chairs on the elevated back row so you can keep an eye on the children in the front row to keep them from throwing popcorn. The walls are covered with theater fabric so you can get the utmost sound quality from your surround sound system.
As you tuck the young ones away for the night, you set the system in the night mode. All the lights in the house gently dim. As you lie in bed, you realized you left the garage door open. No need to worry; the system is set so that at 10 o'clock the garage doors will automatically close. Once again, you can have a peaceful night sleep knowing all is well and protected.
The End. |
